The Best and Worst Movie Lesbian Kisses

This is the ultimate man’s fantasy no matter age, race, and religion. Well, sexual orientation does matter in that particular case, because a gay guy wouldn’t be particularly impressed at the sight of two females smooching the hell out of each other. Straight men like women, and to them, what’s better than one woman? Exactly – TWO women!  And if they are engaged in an intimate play, this will already feel like heaven on earth. The thing that triggers that fantasy is pretty simple actually, and you don’t need to be an experienced shrink to come up with an explanation. When watching  two women in the intimate act of kissing, guys imagine themselves inside the situation, only without having to fight the competition of another male party to get the ladies’ attention. Men simply presume that there is place  in the bedroom for them!

Chicks who kiss and touch each other in heterosexual adult movies are there exactly to tantalize and seduce male viewers because they are instantly perceived as sexually available to them. But what about two girls kissing scenes in  regular movies? Lesbian makeout and kissing are less commonplace in  mainstream cinema, and yet, if you care to do some thorough research, you’ll be surprised to find out there can be found more than a hundred such scenes. But we have done the job for you, so now we present you with our finest selection of 8 Hollywood girl-to-girl kisses we are excited about, and 8 others who we’d rather not haven seen!

Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis’ Embrace in Black Swan (2010) – THUMBS UP

We thought we had seen it all – man on girl, girl on man, man on man, girl on horse, man on kitchen mincer, you name it… But this… This hot embrace between Kunis and Portman was nothing we had ever seen in an R-rated, Oscar-inning movie before! Actually, the scene has been one of the most talked about in the film history. It even appeared on some of the most popular sites with adult content videos, such as Xvideos and YouPorn. When asked in interviews about the lips-locking episode, this is what Kunis said, “She’s a lovely kisser, very polite. But here’s a little-known fact: there’s one person in the world that both Ashton (Kutcher) and I have kissed, and that’s Natalie Portman!”

Well, we have NEARLY forgotten about this fact! But not exactly…

Denise Richards and Neve Campbell Getting Friendly in The Pool in Wild Things (1989) – THUMBS DOWN

It’s not the very scene per se, it’s the whole movie that ruins it for us! Back in year 1989, Wild Things was the forbidden fruit of VHS tapes for all the horny teenage boys out there. Richards and Campbell are two classmates who falsely accuse their high-school guidance counsellor, played by Matt Dillon, of having sexually assaulted them. It may sound as a captivating plot, but the final product was something they wanted to sell as an “erotic thriller.” However, it was nothing such but a trashy B-movie, the only memorable scene of which was the one where the two young and hot actresses exchange bodily fluids in a pool. But this is the most that can be squeezed out of it. And even Richard’s character’s reluctance to wear clothes cannot make it up for the poor execution of the original idea. Such a waste of boobs material!

Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly Participate in an Iconic Scene in Bound (1996) – THUMBS UP

The plot doesn’t exactly challenge the viewers’ intellectual abilities. Corky (Gina Gershon), a tough ex con, and her lover Violet (Jennifer Tilly) hatch a scheme to steal some stashed mob money and blame it on Violet’s boyfriend Ceasar (Joe Pantoliano). The director is Lana Wachowski (as in the Wachowski Brothers!), and she definitely showed some genius flare by hiring the feminist writer Susie Bright as a consultant and choreographer for the girls’ sex scenes. The result is more than satisfactory and enjoyable. The unforgettable sequence when Violet first seduces Corky is truly remarkable. The scene is super sexy and genuine without being overdone or exploitative. You quickly forget the Wachowski’s Neo and The Matrix when you see Gershon and Tilly in that passionate girl-to-girl scene.

Blue Is Definitely NOT the “Warmest Color” – THUMBS DOWN

French film Blue Is the Warmest Color (2013) was meant to be bold and impressive because of the straightforward depiction of the theme it tackles. Adèle (Adèle Exarchopoulos) is a high schooler, whose life changes drastically when she meets the college student Emma (Léa Seydoux). Emma’s her hair is dyed blue, hence the title… in case you’ve wondered. The kissing and love-making scenes are extremely graphic, but hey!, what  else can we expect from a European movie! The camera tracks the actresses like a hungry hawk and never fails to capture their faces in obscene close-ups. We see their tears, teeth, and even snot streaming out of their noses. At moments it feels as if the camera seriously wants to invade their bodies from within. And yet, chemistry between the two is somehow missing. It’s a shame, really, because Emma and Adèle are doing their best to embrace each other with total believability.

Angelina Jolie’s Girl-to-Girl Movie Kiss in Gia (1998) In Mind-Blowing— THUMBS UP

Some call Angelina Jolie “the greatest on-screen lesbian lover ever.” How can we not agree when we watch her fully unleashing her talent of a seductress in the biographical drama Gia! It tells the story of model Gia Marie Garangi and her decent into addiction.  When her lover, played by Elizabeth Mitchell, makes her choose between her and the drugs, Gia chooses the latter. Jolie has never been obscure about her adventurous sexual past and the fact that she’s also had female lovers. Long before Brad Pitt, Jolie was in a long-term relationship with actress Jenny Shimizu. We mean, what can beat the real thing, especially when transferred on the big screen?!

Leighton Meester and Danneel Ackles Kiss in a Club’s Bathroom in The Roommate (2011) – THUMBS DOWN

“Sorry to stare but you’re really beautiful!”

“So are you. You have great lips.”

The scene is set in a dim-lit bathroom at a club, the atmosphere is quite electric, and Meester’s character, Rebecca, needs some lip gloss (“cinnamon, caffeinated, because a girl never knows how long a night could be”). So what’s a girl to do but give both her lipgloss and the her lips to this beautiful enigmatic stranger? If you are accustomed to seeing Leighton Meester as the queen of the Upper East Side in The Gossip Girl, then probably The Roommate will be an uneasy choice for a drama-slash-horror-slash-thriller Friday night. The only true asset of this movie is the kissing scene between Meester and Ackles. But instead of being erotic, it leaves a very insipid aftertaste. One gets the impression that the sequence was added just to add some extra flavor to something that was born dead.

Amanda Seyfried As an Escort Girl in Chloe (2009) Passionately Kisses Julianne Moore’s Heroine – THUMBS UP

In this 2009 erotic thriller, Seyfried plays an escort girl who is hired by Catherine (Moore) to seduce her husband (Liam Neeson), whom she suspects of cheating on her. Although the kissing scene lasts just a couple of seconds, Seyfried not only passionately kisses Moore who is old enough to be her mother, but she also strips naked for her. Actually, it’s Moore who rips open Amanda’s blouse. It’s an incredibly steamy and sensual scene mainly because Moore’s character is vulnerable and open to ANY kind of affection.

Julianne Moore is no stranger to kissing her female co-stars, but this scene with Amanda Seyfried can be ranked a bit higher than, let’s say, the one with Annette Bening from The Kids Are All Right (2010) where the two actresses play a married lesbian couple.

The Girl-to-Girl Kiss in Cruel Intentions (1999) Is What It Is – Purely Instructional –  THUMBS DOWN

With the risk to sound blasphemous, we are going to call the kiss that generations of men would still call legendary bo-o-o-o-ring. We’ve all seen the teenage version of the classic Dangerous Liaisons movie from 1988, and the scene between Kathryn and Cecile in the park is indeed memorable. But! When Kathryn (played by Gellar) hatches a plan to corrupt innocent and naive Cecile (Blair) she starts by teaching her how a proper French kiss should be done. The resulting kissing lesson may leave the unexperienced Cecile to want more, but not us, the viewers. It’s mechanical, it’s instructional, it’s simply not sexy at all. And yes, Cecil exclaims, “That was cool”, but what else can you expect from a beginner! We, on the other hand, have seen better. And, if we’ve been lucky, we’ve had better!

Scarlett  Johansson and Penelope Cruze Make Out in a Red-Tinged Dark Room in Vicky Christina Barcelona (2008) – THUMBS UP

Woody Allen sure knows how to attract male audience! His love letter to Barcelona is also a love message to all the guys whose sexual fantasies involve two of today’s hottest actresses. Penelope Cruz won an Oscar for her performance as the smoldering hot and wild Maria Elena in this comedy-drama film from 2008. In Maria Elena’s eyes, Johansson’s character, Cristina, is the missing link in her stormy relationship with her ex-husband, the artist Juan Antonio (played by Javier Bardem). The kiss that the actresses share takes place in a red-tinged photography dark room, and it’s extremely erotic. Later on, the two have a menage-a-trois with Juan Antonio.

When the movie was released, the viewers were blown away and shocked at the same time. After seeing that, we feel forever indebted to Woody Allen for searing the image of that kiss into our memory!

A Newly Formed F/F Couple Shares an Educational Kiss in Higher Learning (1995) – THUMBS DOWN

OK, here is a fact: even with this half-erotic girl-to-girl kiss present, this movie is anything but a poster advertising the banal slogan that different is cool. The movie follows the lives of three freshmen at a fictional university, and the main theme is one of racial tension. But, of course, we are not here to discuss the black track star who struggles with academics, but the scene when Kristen (played by Kristy Swanson) and strikingly beautiful Taryn (Jennifer Connelly) have a steamy topless make out session. But somehow we cannot fully buy the intimacy thing that is going on between the two hotties.First of all, because it never becomes clear whether it really happened or it was just a fantasy of Kristen’s. Some would say, “Who cares?! They showed it, we watched it, so it’s pretty much real.”  Well, we care!

The Close-Up of the Kiss Between Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried in Jennifer’s Body (2009) Is Simply Killing It – THUMBS UP

In case you have missed to see Jennifer’s Body (which is an unbelievable thing to do!), here is a wrap-up of what is going on. Megan Fox plays a possessed high school cheerleader who specializes in collecting the souls of her classmates. Her brainy friend (Seyfried) tries to put an end to the horror. But let’s skip fast forward to the notorious kiss between the two. Although it looks  so sensual and 100% real, Fox claims in an interview that while filming it, Seyfried was “extremely uncomfortable” and would have “giggling fits” between the takes. Fox herself was just the opposite. She says, “I feel much safer with girls, so I felt more comfortable kissing Amanda than kissing any of the other people I had to kiss.” Lucky Amanda! And lucky us for having seen it happening!

The Piranha 3D Girl-to-Girl Smooch Is Too Business-Professional – THUMBS DOWN

Although the kiss in the horror epic heavily tantalizes the senses and especially the crotch area of the viewers, it cannot be more obvious that to porn star Riley Steele this is JUST a job. In the film, the other starlet, Kelly Brook plays a party girl (what else!) who, before the situation gets ugly with all that man-eating fish swimming around, engages herself in playful sexual activity with Riley. Of course, the film-makes are under no illusion that they have created an Oscar-material blockbuster. This popcorn thriller is a typical B-movie – lots of boobs, blood, and drama.

Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart Are Bad Girls in The Runaways (2010), but Their Kiss Is Soooo Good – THUMBS UP

The movie tells the true story of hard rock band The Runaways, with the duo Cherie Currie (Fanning) and Joan Jett (Stewart) being the binding link of the band. The two former child actors claim their friendship isn’t based on work only, and when they are together they never talk about movie stuff. And it shows on the set –  the two definitely have great chemistry going on between them. Although the movie script it is based on an autobiographical book, the intimate moments between the heroines were not in the source material. This doesn’t mean, though, that they were squeezed out of nowhere. Cherie Curry herself said in an interview with Spin magazine that in the mid 70’s everybody was experimenting with sex. So did they. “We weren’t in love with each other. We just had fun. I like thats in the film.” We like that, too, Cherie!

The Kiss in Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (2004) Is Too Short and Too Unengaging – THUMBS DOWN

As the title suggests, the movie is about a group of misfits who enter a Las Vegas dodgeball tournament in order to save the gym of the protagonist, Peter LaFleur, played by Vince Vaughn. Following all the rules of the genre, they, of course, win the tournament, although the other teams are way better than them. In the euphorious  moment of victory, one of the players, Kate (Christine Taylor) gives LaFleur a juicy smooch. But before that, she turns to her unrevealed up to this moment girlfriend, Joyce (Scarlett Shorvat), and gives HER a tongue kiss. LaFleur seems quite abash, but the audience love the sudden turn. Yet, something is missing. It feels as if the scene was placed there just for the sake of it – it’s too short, too unengaging, and, honestly, Taylor is not convincing as a lesbian.

The Kiss between Elizabeth Berkley and Gina Gershon in Showgirls (1995) Is an Ultimate Viewing Pleasure! – THUMBS UP

The title of the movie is compelling enough for anybody who is into sexy girls to see it. The attractive Nomi (Berkley) arrives in Las Vegas with the firm intention to make it as a dancer. She soon finds a dissatisfactory job as a stripper, but a happy ending inevitably follows. She catches the eye of a talent scout who hires her for a big revue at a casino. Eventually, Nomi gets her starring role. Cristal (Gershon) plays a hot, bisexual lady who also dances topless for a living. The two are rehearsing a dance number, and as they heat up, they go for a kiss. “You see, darling, you ARE a whore, “ Cristal says, which makes Nomi run off. But only to come back at the end of the movie for another French kiss with Cristal.

Alyssa Milano Is Naked All Over the Place in Embrace of the Vampire (1995), But It Doesn’t Really Work for Us – THUMBS DOWN

Probably the kissing scenes are not working miracles in this insipid erotic horror movie because Alyssa Milano is obviously using the film only as an opportunity to change her cheesy Hollywood image from the times where she played in Who’s the Boss?. People were already fed up with the cute Samantha Micelli character she played for eight years, so Milano decided to show everybody she was all grown up, and hot, and even capable of getting it on with another girl. There are four, quite hot, we must admit, lesbian scenes, which, however fail to excite the viewer. Probably because the movie as a whole is trashy and the cast is awful. And we don’t mean Charlotte Lewis as Sarah in particular – she is a great kisser! It’s just the whole thing is so weak and underdeveloped that it ruins even the hottest moments. The vampire is not even given a name, for Pete’s sake!
